Conundrum

Conundrum A difficult problem or situation not easily resolved. My father-in-law perhaps introduced this word to me years ago. He was an interesting man. Completely self-educated after high school, his passion was reading and we enjoyed a very special 15 year friendship until his death from a heart attack in the parking lot of a Nevada casino.
