Benny and Bobby Bully

Benny was the new kid in school. He never made friends easy, so he was surprised when a pretty girl approached him and said. “My name is Sally. You’re cute. Are you new?” Benny was sure he was turning all colors of crimson. “I don’t think so. I am 12 years old.” Sally laughed. “You are so funny! I didn’t mean if you were new. I meant if this was your first day at our school.” Before Benny could answer, someone pushed him and sent him flying into the chain link fence. Benny lost his balance and fell hard to the concrete parking lot ground. Dazed and bleeding from a cut to his forehead, he looked up to see a bigger boy towering over him. “Sally is my girl. The next time I see you even look her way. I am not going to be satisfied with making you bleed. I am going to hurt you so bad, your bleeping mother won’t even recognize you!” A crowd was forming around Benny and a teacher managed to fight through the crowd and soon Benny started off his new school experience in the nurse’s office rather than the classroom. The school nurse was sweet and didn’t ask many questions. “I do have to ask you who did this to you?” Benny paused. “I fell.” The pretty nurse smiled. “You might have a slight concussion. Who is your regular Doctor?” Benny was focusing better. The nurse had pretty blue eyes. “We just moved here. I don’t think my mom has found a doctor yet.” The pretty young nurse just smiled and went into another room to make a phone call. Within the hour, Benny was in the hospital ER and his frantic mother was peppering him with endless questions. “Benny, are you all right? OMG, is he all right? Does he have a concussion? I can’t believe this. It’s his very first day. I had to leave work. I can’t afford to leave work. You know, Benny has no father. I am all he has!” The elderly ER doctor seemed oblivious to his mom’s rant. “I would watch him closely for a few days. I think he is a lucky boy. I stitched up that nasty cut and I am giving him something for the pain. It’s the concussion I am most concerned with. Make sure he stays up until the evening and if he has any nausea or vomiting, I want him back here immediately.” Benny went home with his mom. She was too good a woman for this added worry. He was determined to return to school, but his mom made him stay home the next day. So now he had missed the first two days of school. When Benny finally made it back to school, Sally was waiting for him at his locker. Benny thought he saw a ghost. He glanced around to see if Bobby Bully was anywhere near. Sally hugged him. He loved the feel of her body and the cologne she was wearing. It almost sent him into a trance. But Benny broke the embrace and pushed her away. “What are you doing?” Benny blurted out. Sally smiled showing her perfect white teeth. “Relax, Bobby has early football practice today. I don’t expect him until much later.” Suddenly, Benny hurt an all too familiar grunt and he found himself being lifted off his feet. It took all of 10 seconds and benny was no longer looking in his locker. Now, he was in his locker. The kids in the hall were howling with laughter. Benny’s last image was Bobby Bully pushing a crying Sally away and then slamming and locking the locker. The now muffled laughter continued. Benny was going to be late again
