Tigers-Giants Notes for Game 1

You look at the box scores of Game 1, Tigers-Giants and it seems competitive. After all, the Tigers had 3 runs, 8 hits. Giants had 8 runs and 3 more hits than Detroit. But you never quite felt Detroit was in the game. That is exactly the feeling I had watching my listless Yankees and the brain dead Joe Girardi, who was spending more time chasing little Alex around the clubhouse, trying to give him a good spanking (did you ever hear of a bad spanking)? Tigers skipper Jim “Smoking” Leyland knew better: “when you use 5 pitchers in a game that Justine Verlander starts, that’s not a good tonic.” It’s also not a good tonic when the Giants score first, the panda hits 3 homers and Zito looks like Koufax. Tigers go for the split tonight Then it’s off to the North Pole for games 3 and 4. Good luck with that!
