Perfidious
per•fid•i•ous/pərˈfidēəs/
Adjective: Deceitful and untrustworthy.
Synonyms: treacherous - traitorous - unfaithful – disloyal
Words which describe the human condition are powerful words in your vocabulary.
Benedict Arnold is a famous traitor in history.
Let’s go back in our mental movies, our personal time machine.
Arnold was a General for the American Continental Army in the Revolutionary War who switched to the British forces.
Because of the way he changed sides, his name quickly became a byword in the United States for treason or betrayal.
Some see PERFIDIOUS and draw a blank.
I teach my students to make a mental film.
And when they make a mental film, they see a picture of Benedict Arnold and the word PERFID IOUS is owned forever.
