Father's Day is June 21.
I have a gift for you and dad.
It is too late to give it to me dad.
He died in 2000.
He had a rather healthy 88 years with a steep slope at the end.
I have honored our relationship with my short story GIFT TO MY DAD.
I have a feeling that you and dad will both love it.
It's about a man who goes looking for his dad's grave in a cemetery and comes away with a great deal more than a graveside visit.

It was Mark Twain who penned these words.
When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in 7 years.
You have one father.
Let him know on June 21 how much you love him.
I failed to deliver GIFT TO MY DAD in time.
But I can deliver it to you.
After you deliver it to your dad, write me about the experience.
You might end up in a future story.
Have a great Father's day.
I will be spending June 21 with my children and grandchildren.
For I am very rich man.
My wealth is invested in my family.
And it has led to a life of no regrets.
And I did manage to tell dad before he died how very much I did love him.
And he told me the same.
On Sunday, June 21, don't wait for dad to tell you how much he loves you.
Tell him first yourself.
And by sharing GIFT TO MY DAD with him, you will do just that.

When Your Students Challenge You....
The greatest thing about teaching as long as I have is dealing with the shots people will take at you.
They will want referrals.
Some will want a detailed synopsis of what you are going to teach, even before you teach it and certainly, before they pay for it.
Here's a tip that will save your lifecoaching practice.
Don't give in to their demands.
You are the Lifecoach.
You are the teacher.
You are what they need.
If you are my student, I will help you negotiate with them, but I will never tell you to fold like a poor poker player or beach chair on the Titanic.
State what you can do for them.
Add what you have done for others.
Don't give references (that's an ethical violation).
Don't give outlines.
If they are serious about being a lifecoach, they will do what you require.
If they don't they weren't serious enough.
You need to be strong enough to walk away.
Otherwise your practice will never grow.
And your career will be over before it begins.
I was one of the first Lifecoaches ever.
It will soon be 40 years.
I don't waste my time on referrals.
I am too busy getting results.
I change peoples lives.
And I am good at it!

FIRE YOUR BOSS AND HIRE YOURSELF!
This book sold one million copies in 1982, but I have decided to package a jazzy offer.
Dozens of Network Marketing companies used FYB as their mantra in 1982 (and they weren't called Network Marketing companies then).
In addition to allowing me to retire at 32, FYB helped several of my clients get rich and well, FIRE THEIR BOSS!
For $29, you get to see what a million have gleaned.
In addition, I will throw in a free consult (wort around $350 and up) for either coaching in an area of your choice (weight management, entrepreneurship, relationships, academics, sports) or how to start your own LIFECOACHING business!
You get all of this and priority mailing.
Go to paypal.com, use my account (stevetarde@yahoo.com) and change your life.
If your life is filled to the brim, tell a friend or contact me how you can receive referral fees working with me.
My next book IS FIRE YOUR BOSS AND BECOME A LIFECOACH.
By purchasing FYB, you will have first priority when my new book is released before 2010.

Walking Builds Mental Strength!
Are you a walker?
If you are walking over the Coronado Bay Bridge on May 17, you will find me and a few thousand friends.
It will be another spectacular day in San Diego and I can tell you that without a weather forecast.
When I was drawing up my visualization list of the places I most wanted to live, San Diego was the place.
I would watch Met games over WOR Channel 9 in South Huntington, New York and one of the original Met announcers, Lindsey Nelson, Bob Murphy or Ralph Kiner, would say:
"We are coming to you from picturesque San Diego where every day seems like a picture perfect day."
That's where I wanted to live. Case closed.
So, I know Sunday, May 17 will come up perfect.
My son will be running over the bridge, but walking is fine with me.
For 31 years, my boy and I do things together.
The following are the 10 reasons why walking might change your life forever.
It's what I share with my students.
I now share it with my FACEBOOK family and by blogger followers.
See you on the bridge.
This is my second bridge crossing.
Last September, me and my best friend since I was 12, crossed the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan and the site of the World Trade Center.
A very emotional day!
1. Walking will enhance you thinking and release new visualizations
2. Walking will help you get in shape
3. Walking will make you eat less.
4. Walking will force you to drink more water.
5. Walking will encourage you to stand tall.
6. Walking will add friends and bond family
7. Walking will take you places you never imagined
8. Walking is an activity you can do forever.
9. Walking will add years to your life.
10 Walking begins with the first step.
Happy Trails!
Steve

What We can Learn from Manny Pacman!
Spent an extraordinary day yesterday.
One of those days that you live your life to experience.
I first picked up my precious daughter (L) from her SAT test.
She didn't come out until 1:30 PM and that gave me over an hour to speak with the pretty Kim who was waiting for her daughter.
I would have loved to ask Kim out.
But there was one problem.
Kim was getting married tomorrow (today).
It reminded me of Charles Grodin's line in the original Heartbreak Kid which was far superior to the sequel with Ben Stiller.
Grodin, playing Lenny, a salesman who was in Miami Beach for his honeymoon, ran into the lovely (at the time) Cybil Shepherd.
Lenny had this to say to Cybil's straight laced dad, played by the incomparable Eddie Albert.
I HAVE FALLEN HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE WITH YOUR DAUGHTER, SIR.
THERE IS ONE MINOR PROBLEM.
I AM HERE ON MY HONEYMOON. I MADE THE FATAL MISTAKE A FEW DAYS BACK, BUT I PROMISE SIR AS SOON AS I CAN EXTRICATE MYSELF FROM THAT PROBLEM, I WILL BE STAKING MY CLAIM TO YOUR LOVELY DAUGHTER.
So Kim wouldn't go out with me.
She has plans this weekend.
And by the way, today is also her birthday and tomorrow, she leaves (with her new husband I would imagine) to Hawaii for their honeymoon.
Congratulations, Kim.
Now where was I?
LT and I had lunch. The poor girl hadn't eaten all morning.
We shopped, talked and laughed away the afternoon.
At night, I rewarded her second straight year of STRAIGHT A'S with sumptuous repast at Ruth Chris. Our favorite steakhouse.
Then it was on to her brother's house (ST) where we watched the Pacquiao-Hatten championship prizefight.
Pac destroyed hatten with a second round KO with a devastating Left to the chin.
If you like KO;s, get your hands on this clip.
The punch almost killed Hatten. He was on his back, out stone cold, for several minutes.
ST surprised LT wit tickets to Cold Play later this summer.
It was quite a night for my family.
It was quite a night for LT.
She will be heading off to SDSU in one year to be Hollywood's next great film director.
Now, if you want to glean how Pacman's philosophy can help you in your sport or your child's sport.....
If you want to put more punch in your speaking and writing skills or
IF you want to become a dynamite networker and start your own LIFE COACHING practice, my mentoring one-one classes are full through May.
I have some openings for June.
Thanks LT.
Thanks ST
I lucked out when it comes to children.
I am wealthy beyond belief.

A Murdered Child
I have a life as a LIFECOACH and teacher of LIFECOACHES.
But I have made time for another life as well.
I help raise money to keep handguns off the street.
I am not a victim of gun violence.
It is simply one of my core beliefs.
I believe that everyone has the right to own a handgun to keep for protection.
However, I believe these weapons should be kept away from children or strict consequences will result.
Recently, I spoke on the phone with a woman who shares my passion for common sense gun legislation.
She has a greater reason than most of us.
Her beautiful 20 year old daughter was murdered by a handgun.
Don't believe that handguns should be more tightly regulated?
You say that we need less government, rather than more.
Try telling that to this tortured soul who must go to sleep every night with the picture of her daughter being shot down in her mind.
A daughter who was studying psychology in college, but now will never graduate.
A daughter who will never invite her parents to her wedding.
A daughter who will never see the joy on her mother's face when she holds a grandchild.
All of that shattered in an instant by the explosion of a 9mm handgun which stilled her life forever.
On the floor of the Senate, a bill was just introduced which calls for stopping the gun show loophole.
All guns sold in America are regulated by a background check.
That is unless the firearm is purchased at a gun show.
These guns can be purchased and the new owner can avoid the background check.
This is how the killers at a Colorado high school obtained three of the four firearms they used on that bloody day 10 years ago.
As I wrote earlier, there is nothing quite like speaking with a parent who has lost their child.
No parent wants to outlive their children.
No parent wants to ever get this horrific call.
YOUR CHILD IS IN THE MORGUE.
I have spoken to thousands of people about the weakness of common sense gun legislation.
In our great country, we are the 4th largest in the world in the number of deaths from handguns.
If you want to save lives, you can do something about it.
Go on the Internet and search for information about Senator Lautenberg's (NJ) proposed legislation in the Senate.
Write to your Senators and congressional Representatives about how important the passage of closing the gun show loophole is.
You don't have to speak with a shattered mom who will never have the joy of seeing her daughter smile again, to take action.
Do it for her and all of the moms and dads who have had their lives changed forever.
Do it for a country who knows better.
Most of all, do it for yourself.
It will be one of those times in life when you can really feel you did good.
The end of the gun show loophole will save lives!
Become part of such a day in American history.
It will be too late to help this mom.
Yet, I feel certain she will be pleased all the same.
Because the day this legislation passes, America becomes a safer place to live.
And more parents will be able to share Mother's Day and Father's Day with their sons and daughters and grandchildren and not replaying the nightmare of their murder.
What we give to others comes back to us.
This is a gift we all should consider giving.
I hope you do.
