What is Manifest Destiny?
It was once a political philosophy that America was destined to reach its physical borders.
This meant that our acquisition of the Louisiana territory in 1803 was part of us reaching the destiny that we would someday be the country that reached from ocean to ocean.
Of course, we dis end up manifesting our destiny.
