My father, John, had been a coach for my brother and me in youth hockey leagues around Michigan. He always stressed that we should continue to develop our strengths, but we should also pay particular attention to our weakneses. He reasoned that human nature caused people to gravitate toward and rely on things they did well. Consequently, they tend to try to hide their weakest skills. If your opponent is able to discover those weaknesses, you'll be exploited until you ultimately fail.
